what are the stages of locs?
- Starter Stage: This is the beginning phase, where the hair is initially twisted, braided, or coiled to start the locs. The hair might look and feel like regular twist-outs or braids at this point. This stage usually lasts for 1 to 3 months, depending on hair texture and maintenance routine.
- Budding Stage: In this phase, you’ll notice small buds forming along your locs, which is a sign that the hair starts to intertwine and mat. The locs may feel puffy or sponge-like, and this stage can last anywhere from 3 to 6 months. Moisture is key during this time to encourage healthy loc formation.
- Teen Stage: Your locs begin to take shape but are far from mature. They might look messy or uneven, and you might experience a lot of frizz. This is normal and part of the process. The locs start to lengthen and might shrink in width as they tighten. This stage can last from 6 months to a year.
